52.7

I've been trying all my life to gain weight, by eating...

well...funny thing is, I found out that I only gain weight by exercising, and badminton is not considered as exercising according to my body. I have to run, and do weights, and sweat, to gain weight. WTHack.....I have to work hard to gain weight....that's shitty...now i think I've gone a bit too chubby round the face...

wanna stop gymming liao...or mayb i should just eat less! =( Never thought this day would come...going on a diet...WTHack...

Jace's Slaughter Fever

Latest guy fever - Joseph James Forest a.k.a. Joe Slaughter

He's the villain in step up 3. brown hair, blue-green eyes, tanned skin, and dimpled smile...oh so dashing!! not forgetting his ripped bod....sigh...

wait till you see him on the dance floor...forget about melting...I'd be evaporating!! Tried doing some research on him..but not much information found...seems to be a very private person..

Just cause he's a villain in step up 3, doesn't make him less good looking...(the main actor there isn't a very convincing actor).

Right...managed to get my bum to gym!! Looks like a gr8 nites sleep b4 an early morning tomorrow...

prepared

Dear Friend,

how're you? Got confused with my shift for the 1st time! Showed up at a night shift when I wasn't suppose to be on, but stayed on to help ease the night...was reasonably a good night compared the the rest.

been thinking, life has a way for throwing things at you when you least expect it. Chirstchurch had a massive 7.3 eatthquake at the break of dawn, and had the city put into a state of emergency. Brick buildings collapsed, roads were cracked, pipes broke and caused flooding. Fortunately, there weren't any mortalities and fires. Looting was prevented.

Am i prepared if a large scale earthquake were to occur at dawn? Food wise, kinda...but fluid wise...no. Don't even have torches for light..or a 1st aid kit...will have to start building on my emergency box.

Signing off!

negligent

its been a while......

wat i've been up to:

2 weekends ago, i went to town, had dinner at One Red Dog (gourmet pizzas and pastas), paid a short visit a new bar (can't remember what's it called), then we headed to The Library (great dessert)

last wkend, AK & JL spent the weekend at my place. Went to Hede's for dinner (at the head of Cuba st, YUMM....), than went groceries shopping for Sat dinner, and spent the night in with choco croissants & Moscato... Sat was spent sleeping in, Frank Kitt's indoor market (amazing locally handmade arts and crafts, then preparing and having dinner with good company (AK's lil birthday dinner), the company went out, but i stayed in as I had work...

Today, i went to get my car registration done, and warrenty of fitness. failed WOF, cause of a crack in the panel...man...a crack dat cost $400...@#$%..there goes my savings/spendings for the next month...so gonna sell my car after...

Right, off for work! 3 nights in a row and a long break....so looking forward to it...

Learning on the job

I'd like to say I'm getting better at work...

I remember being a student, I'd be at awe with my mentors being able to remember what they're required to do for a handful of patients, through their shift...you'd get the normal routine stuff that needs doing, then doctor's orders, referrals to make, patient's needs/requests to answer, other nurses' asking for help, family wanting their needs/questions to be looked at.

man...as time pass...I'm sure people would develop, I've been working for 3 months now...and looking back, I remember struggling with my drug calculations, not knowing what procedure is required, what the normal is for kids, not knowing what to expect or look out for.

Now, I can do drug calculations on top of my head and get them correct, I can roughly know what to look out for, with some disease/illness, I know what to prepare for different patients, and ask the correct questions, I know who to ask and what to say, I can even understand people much better!

There's still so much more I need and could learn, and everyday I learn at least one thing new at work. Whether it be a new diagnosis, or treatment, or symptom, professional development or social lesson, there will be endless. I'll always continue learning....especially on time management!!! Maybe roller blades would do the trick huh?

never STOP!

from treehugger

It's true...

I'm a killer...

I eat meat....

I LOVE meat!

chicken,
turkey,
beef,
pork,
duck,
fish,
venison,
rabbit,
mutton,
lamb,
you name it...

Red meat especially!

But anyways, I just wanted to say I haven't been and wouldn't be posting much the next few days, cause I've got a report due on Friday,

and I'm only 1/4 done...

Done all my learning plans, but have yet to have them seen. Crappy!!

On the up side, went to Arise Conference, and it was

A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!

great eye opener!

VISION!

Catch the next conference next year, 11th-13th Aug, 2011.

Don't get me wrong, but I love

doing my assignments,
writing up essays,
answering short answers or MCQs...

I LOVE STUDYING.

I won't deny being a nerd....

Since being in Uni, I learnt a new word,

This thing, as fair as it is, it is completely frustrating
when I have the information
but can't blooming find the source of the information.

Had some help from my really brilliant flatmate,
and he lent me a book,
which was every dr's bible.
I'd say mine too!
Nonetheless,
I still require up-to-date literature!!

red square

had my second nite out in welly on Sat.

Happening as ever in town...

As I just finished work at 11pm and made our way to the clubs after the boys had their drinks while we were chatting, it was already 1am.

We tried Rain Bar, but it was so full that only members were allowed in.

So we went to Cayote, which was across the road.

Packed too, but still not suffocatingly jammed up. They're into house music-RnB & feminist songs.

Tried of just swaying to the songs, we tried Red Square. There was a queue, but it was a quick one, braving light showers outside. Songs there were more inclined to techno...so wasn't much fun...

By the time we left, & tried Rain for the 3rd time, it was already 3am ish...thank goodness the shower had stopped & they were letting non members in now...

the crowd was still enjoying their night and the songs were more into HipHop...

went in, & chilled out back, observing and chatting...man...good times...I had to leave as I had to get my rest n work in the afternoon.

Red Square - us wit Vink's newly made strangers (he just danced along with them)

Vink obviously had a tad too much to drink, or maybe not enough to drink....

Yush!! Another successful, enjoyable, sober night! dancing with a scarf is not very cool....ing at all...but thank goodness for it, I suffered a terrible wardrobe melt down even b4 the night started!

answers?

things i've been wondering:

- do nightmares come true?

- why does a 10 ton carpet that just collects dust, dirt and grub, cost $500?

- why do birds tend to poo on my car, even when my car's not under any wires or trees?

- why do berries taste sour?

- why can i imagine better than perform?

- how do u cook bulgogi?

- should I have porridge or bulgogi tomorrow?

- why is home so far away when you need it?

too much pasta...

I think I've got the pasta bug....made a huge batch of pasta earlier in the week, then my other flatmate got carried away and made an even lager batch of pasta, since then I've been having it everyday for both lunch n dinner.. and since last nite, I've been feeling unwell in the head and tummy...and I'm gonna blame the pasta for it... NO MORE PASTA!!

An another note, I went to the gym yesterday! was taught by a gym instructor on how to use the muscle building equipments, and did a 3k run after all that! not bad considering I haven't done much exercise in ages...can't count gym classes as exercise..so from now on, i'll be working out in the gym, instead of working my time around the gym classes. Got another appointment 2mr, to be taught how to use the cardio machine...

Goodness save me...I'm beginning to feel sore all over....

Praying hard I'll be able to get through the night fine, and finish up my paper work required! I've got a report I'm trying to complete by the wkend, 18 goals to write up by next week, and 5 learning objectives to revise by next week, and.......another 3 learning objectives to set for in 2 weeks. How did I manage to get chin deep into my over due paper work....u can so trust on Jace to allow this to happen!! ugh....

I will be!

sometimes I wonder if I'm suitable for the role I'm in.

sometimes I think I let everyone down, giving them doubt.

sometimes I think I should know more than I do.

sometimes I think I should do more than I did.

sometimes I think I'm really so hopeless.

sometimes I feel so small.

Everytime I feel these, I wish you were here.

That you're right by my side.

Holding my hand.

Speaking to me, advising me, comforting me.

Its during times like these, I really need you

keeping me strong, keeping me from staying on the ground,

keeping me filled, keeping me loved, keeping me going.

For you, I will keep persevering, I will pick myself up each time,

I will brush off the dust, I will continue learning, I will keep on growing...

to as high as I can go, even up to the skies...

I'll be patient, I'll be optimistic, I'll be stronger, I'll be wiser.

baking frenzy

Wrecked havoc in the kitchen today. Baked a huge batch of choco chip cookies, made lagsana, and chocolate cake pudding...

chocolate cake pudding...(out done by my own dessert)

Managed to squeeze in a movie tis morning, titled "Hide & Seek". It's a thriller, which was really full of suspense. But unfortunately, I knew what the story was about, so I wasn't very scared...enjoyed the movie nonetheless. Its a movie I wouldn't mind watching a second time, which is really good for my standards cause I can never watch a movie the second time as I would fall asleep half way or just can't be bothered.

Apart from that, there's this korean drama, "personal preference" that I've been watching, but have to refrain from watching as I'd be capping the internet meter soon if I continue! Hearts the actor, Lee Min Ho....such a looker...but some how he looks kinda too soft..in a feminine way...haiz.. Mom suggested I check it out on mySoju, and since then, I've been hooked on the drama, even considering upgrading the internet meter...but nah...need to save on my dough..

Anyways, in case you're wondering, I didn't manage to go out during the weekend. Was a very good girl and stayed home as I suddenly had a tummy attack...felt sick & nauseous to the point I had to make a pack with God that if he takes away the pain & nausea, and I would stay home and behave. So we both kept our promise. Didn't have anyone to go out with either..so just as well...

Definitely wanna go home...................................... =(((

R&R 2

I meet the cutest girl ever yesterday. She's only 2 and she's so chirpy, for some one who swallowed a hair clip, & amazingly intelligent. You should hear her say her name! Oh so adorable!!!

Then today, I met this mom who's got all brains, beauty, and heart! Love hearing her speak as well, especially in Dutch...

Work's getting more exciting! Had my own load of patients and managing my time well...still juggling very well with 3, but needing to improve on getting bulk work done in one go instead of constantly popping in n out of bed spaces. Spent an extra 2 hours at work getting some research done, cause my assignment went off topic.Thankfully, I've been given a few extra days to get it done!

Kitchen Haven

beloved fridge....never cease to empty...
some times u can even find 3 bottles of 2L milk! Freezers over packed...need to empty it one day...

our well stocked pantry! MW reckons it's the best one in Welly, so do I!
With cook books too...

I only just recently found out that the cutlery drawer has another layer to it!!
& I see chopsticks!!! OMG!

My little herb garden...thyme at both ends, followed by mints, then coriander and spring onion in the centre. Unfortunately, the Spring onion were not further developing & had to be disposed of service. However, dying coriander has been sprouting new young leaves!
Need to get a new pot of basil, as my current one is dead already...think the soil's too loose...

Today's dinner! Pork schnitzel w mixed veg and rice...same for lunch tomorrow!

Was informed this morning that I would be working the next 3 days in the morning...was so looking forward to my 2 days off then afternoon shifts...oh well...at least I can have the wkend off n maybe head to town and catch the sharp looking bar tender =D

A long wkend!

My weekend officially start on Thursday evening after work with a night in.

Friday
  • body combat resulting in sore and aching body until today...
  • groceries shopping for the big weekend
  • baked choco chip cookies
  • Ash n Mat took me to a pub, and met a few of their friends. A bottle of cider and a larg bowl of chips lasted me the whole night, while the rest had at least 3 drinks..gr8 company!

Saturday

  • started preparing for the dinner (cold potato salad, sushi - with the help of AK & JL, mushroom soup, bruschetta)
  • AK & JL stayed over
  • arrival of guest, dinner, mingling, & rugby match between All blacks and Springbok
  • visited Rain & spotted a super sharp bar tender (CM's friend apparently)
  • met up with CM & AH at Red Square & met some of their friends
  • went back to Rain for drinks
  • ended the night at Garden Club with soaked, soapy shoes from a Get Wet Foam Party (which didn't apply for us cause we refused to get wet in the cold winter)

Sunday
  • lunch at Cinta Malaysia - had Asseam Fish Soup, not my dish...had too much onions!
  • AK & JL headed back home =(
  • went to church & made dinner
potato & carrot mash, beans w aioli, peppered beef slices

Octy-puss!!

what the hack....all this time I've been hearing of "Octopus" during the Soccer World Cup, never would I have known it really is an living, swimming octopus, and not a human being......

Apparently this 8 tentacled sea creature has a reputation of predicting the winning team of the match...psychic? or just random coincidence?

Les Mills or Less Miles?

Today I'm officially a member of Les Mills...One of the gym personal called me yesterday, asking about my online registration (which was a randomly done out of boredom), and booked me for an appointment and managed to sign me up. Efficient.....another commission for him!

For what reason was I invoked in picking up their membership? I have no idea...possible answers would be to:

build my stamina

keep fit and healthy

sleep better at night

gain weight

tone up my body.

So I'm in this gym for the next 3 years, paying less than $100 a month, for unlimited classes, and I shall attempt to attend at least 2 classes a week. Shouldn't be too hard right? All I need to do is remember to eat right as well, so I don't fade into thin air....

riDON-KEYlously AISed

Met my cousin's friend, WW, for the 1st time after knowing her for 2 years through facebook. We met up for dinner at a Japanese Restaurant along Courtney Place. Service was slow, there was only 1 waitress up front on a busy Sunday night. Food was not too bad...serving portion was normal with mains costing under $20. Atmosphere there was quiet and warm...more like a family/casual dining experience.

then had ice cream at Kaffei Ais (Think that's how it's spelt), which is located a few doors down from this Jap Restaurant. Very busy, but doesn't have many seats for patrons. However, they sell a range of sorbets and gelatos. Home made. I had a scoop of Hazelnut gelato and it was lovely, but i found it a bit too powdery for me...made from powder meaning?? WW, on the other hand wanted the pistachi, but was sold out, so I think she got something else, which i can't remember. Price was around $3 a scoop. Was quite generous with their serving. A very quite and friendly staff! You could ask for a sample, which they gave a good serving as well =)

Choices - Kaffei Ais

Dessert was followed by Shrek Forever After -3D! So excited, I forgot to request for 3D tix when buying the tix, and only thought to check 10minutes before we went pass the check point. Thank goodness I got the tix to the movie we wanted. Enjoyed the movie tremendously! Some how, I still prefer the previous movies, as they were more entertaining. Still loved the character Rumpelstiltskin and his wigs, Puss and his charming wits, Donkey and his naivety, Shrek and his simplicity!

Rumpelstiltskin, & his entourage of witches

Friday nite

What does saline solution have to do with von Willebrand Disease, huh sir?! Putting my patient and their family into unnecessary distress so many times. Heartless.... I'll blame you if my patient has a phobia of coming back in the future, which touch wood, will not return again...

On a happier note, I met up with lovely EL, JK, and SK at starbucks!! Was so good to hang out with them again!

After that, I had to go meet MW and AH for dinner. We went to Roxy Cafe on Cuba St, which serves western dishes, steak, venison, lamb rump, and pork fillet. Reasonable priced for fine dining. AH knew one of the chefs working there, and we had complimentary drinks. Pretty friendly french waiter, but he wasn't very vigilant..I'll excuse him cause it was quite a busy night there. The environment was very noisy, and the meat was not tender. Alright service but food and atmosphere not so good.

After dinner we went to Fidel's for dessert, the atmosphere there was superb...very romantic settings, warm, and quiet. Quite popular among Wellingtonians. They have outdoor areas, which are protected from wind and rain. As for food, they serve cakes, breakfast, snacks, and range of pizza. I'd say they have good service and average food.

Stacks of 20kg cheese I think...at moore & wilson's

This is the absolutely best hot choco from scopa

randoms and ramblings (R&R)

Been having horrifyingly ghastly dreams of when clashes of the spiritual world and human world the past few nights, that its come to the point, where I'm so exhausted and increasingly annoyed as well as frustrated, that I could really give them a piece of my mind. Cause I know I've got God beside me and He's BIGGER than them!

Apart from that, I'm slightly less stress now that I've finally gotten my 6 short reports completed and printed, and ready for submission tomorrow morning. A morning shift at work that I'm not really looking forward to. Then will be having afternoon tea with EL and JK!! So looking forward to seeing them both!!! Followed with a weekly meet for dinner in town with AH and MW, my two fab welly buddies who're simply such awesome. They've been showing me bits and pieces of Welly and Lower Hutt!

Some how my phone cam has managed to set itself into a weird setting that I cant transfer my pix to the comp!! Haish!! another pictureless blorggggg....

Afternoon tea in Paris

Had afternoon tea with one of my Palmy friends at my suburb on Sunday. We visited a quaint lil French cafe tucked in a small corner. This cafe specialises in Crepes! It has all sorts of fillings..from ordinary, honey/jam to lice cream with liquor, to savory filled crepes. All decently priced! AB ordered Salmon crepe with nutella hot chocolate, while I had the Nicouse crepe which had ratatoulie and special sausages, and a cup of latte. Both crepes were served with fresh rocket salad. The food was so inviting, that I forgot about taking pictures!!

Both flatmates were away for the weekend, leaving me home alone. But JC's back now!! The house's less lifeless now =)

Despite the delicious food and good company, I'm feeling so drained from night shifts!! haven't recovered from the lack of sleep I had yesterday...and unable to nap tonight...hopefully, I'm able to last my last night!!

Snore................................

eye vee!

been working with IV pumps so much, I'm certain I can hear them at home too!!!

Working on night shift the past few nights and life has been turned upside down. Sleeping when the day is starting, and working when everyone is out partying/sleeping.

D's Birthday is today. A big Birthday shout out to you D!! Hope you have an awesomer year, and may God continue to shower you abundant blessings and protect you always and everywhere. Love you heaps always!! XOXO

Lamb stew!!

Second attempt of lamb stew!

Lamb was not strong or smelly, nor was it chewy or tough.

Carrots and mushrooms still had their crunchy texture.

Potatoes were soft, and pasta was just right!

Sauce was not too tomato-ish...

All in all, not as good as mom's but at least it taste better than my 1st try!

On another note, I went to the community pool after dinner and got myself a concession pass! Burned off some calories and hopefully built some muscle, got out all wobbly and nearly collapsed at the car park. WEAK!!! Definitely need more practice and do more laps!

Luncheon with Ivor

Met up with Ivor for luncheon on Sat, and we went to Cuba st to find a place to eat. It was the first time since we met 4 years ago, that we've actually sat down and had a meal together. After all these years of being in the same city, it's only when I move to Welly, that we made an initiative to meet up.

Anyways, we went to this Itallian place called Caffe Italiano. What attracted us to that place was that it had a range of desserts displayed on the covered counter! Tiramisu, tarts, etc etc... but they also have pastas, pizzas and a breakfast menu as well. Ivor had bolognase pasta, while I had the lagsana. The best part about this place it that they have half price on pastas on Monday and Tuesday nights! you sure can expect to find me there on those nights!

Bolognase

lagsana

Although, I did find the pastas a tad bit too salty for my taste buds...but overall, the service was quick and the staff were FAB! Although the price were slightly on the step side, the portions were just enough to fill you. Definitely not a bad place to check out if you're looking for a quick Italian meal and don't mind paying more.
Inserted my 1st nasogastric tube ever and it went well! Baby was upset and cried, but after 1 unsuccessful attempt, I tried the other nostril, it slide in perfectly.

I hope she would feed, gain enough energy and weight, recover fast, and go home!!

Church tomorrow morning and contemplating whether to get the cardi from town...

A Heavy Heart

went back to Palmy for a short day trip this afternoon. Arrived and had lunch with Kiddo at Cuba Cafe, then went to pay a house call to uncle and auntie. Sat and chatted with auntie and ended up falling asleep while we were watching the food channel and wasted my precious time in Palmy!!! Woke up just in time to go for dinner with JX and DO at Fujiyama. AC, HH & JC joined co0incidentally too...so it was a merry table.

It's quite a reasonable Japanese restaurant, that DO's rather fond of and often eating there after church.

After that, we had hot chocolate for dessert at Chocolato, a nice ice cream parlor that opened last year, and has been increasing in patrons. They serve Belgian hot chocolate and make their own sorbets and gelatoes. There, the boys were sharing their army day stories and joked around till it was time to go our separate ways.

Leaving Palmy was a hard choice cause there were still so many more friends I wanted to go visit and spend time with, but cause I didn't want to drive late and had work the next day, I had to force myself from turning the car around. The 1st hour back to Welly was really hard...If this is going to keep up, I'm going to dread going back to Palmy again...

As much as I enjoy my new life in Welly, I can't deny that I'm still very fond of Palmy!!!

Part time

I signed an agreement at work that I would study part time as part of my professional development, so I'm taking 1 paper to work towards a post grad dip with a local tertiary institution. This paper is stretched into 2 semesters.

For the 1st semester, we have to set 6 learning objectives, which we're required to research on, demonstrate and discuss our learnings to a senior staff to get it checked off. After which, we have to write a long report on the whole experience. That's only for one learning objective thank goodness.

As for the second semester, we're suppose to review a clinical case and I'm guessing more research and writing, along with completing a professional portfolio for the year.

So apart from reading up hospital policies and protocols, I've got those assignments to complete. Doesn't seem to heavy...considering the work load we've been through in school and uni days. It'll be easy peasy...right??

On another note, having my days off again! A short trip to Palmy for a 21st and back to Welly for a fun night in town. Better get back to completing my 1st load of assignment, before heading out to do more exploring at Lower Hutt/Petone and back to dear old Palmy.

Exploring Welly pt 1

Since I've pretty much settled into my new flat and I had my days off yesterday and today, I decided to do some exploring.

Sunday
I decided to explore the other side of the hill! I'm living in Newtown area, and the other side is Kilbernie. There's 2 supermarkets (Woolies, & Pak & Save), and an asian supermarket, and several rows of shops and banks. The night lights in that area is also quite nice, especially from the hills as it overlooks the airport...I also found out where the national zoo is and a hockey stadium, which are in Newtown area.

*In Kilbernie. multistory flat reminds me of English homes haha...
the hill at the back is the hill that sits between Kilbernie and Newtown*

Monday
The weather was so much better that the past few days! Bright, clear sunny day! Still cold though...so I drove all the way out to Moa Point and to Miramar, which is the southern part of Welly, past the airport. They're both in different directions though.

* one of the viewing points*

*one of the many tiny bays at Moa point. The Lady was playing fetch with her dog*

Later in the evening, I tried taking the bus to town, but ended up walking a good 15mins into town. And met with CC for the 1st time in a year! We had hot chocolate in Scopa Caffe Cucina and it was amazing...it wasn't those powdered hot choco mixed with warmed milk or melted chocolate in milk either. It was like chocolate pudding...it was really silky smooth and dreamy...not the kinda you'd get sick off after a whole mug! Will definitely go back there for seconds, thirds and more!!

Todays weather is kinda unpredictable, one minute dark and gloomy, bright and sunny the next. Today's study and work day, so being a good girl so I can enjoy my days off which is just starting tomorrow night!! haha..

*The view outside my window today*

Since I've been calling home so much more often now, I'm considering using Skype to call landlines instead cause it would be so much cheaper now that they have the unlimited calls to "worldwide" landlines/mobiles for just AUD15.99.

The only problem is, it does not include Malaysian mobiles and to buy the credit, I have to pay in AUD monthly. So at the moment, I'm just using my vodafone prepaid to call malaysian landlines at any time of the day for just $2 an hour, and the line is pretty clear.

What I would be worried about using Skype is that there would be interference with the connection. As it is, both end of the line are having a hard enough time understanding each other.

Any one been using Skype to call landlines or mobile?

My angel in dreams

I still can't fathom that dreams are the only place I can see you now...
U bid me goodbye the night after you left, looking more beautiful and serene that ever.
Tonight you came again,
comforting me and giving me a long hug for the lonesome time I'm having,
Despite being the furthers apart from Earth,
you're still the "mother" figure I can't have at this point of time.
A dream so real I could even still taste you perfectly made butter fruit cake as I woke up.
I believe you're watching over me,
holding my hand and giving me encouragement and hugs along the way.
Thank you so much for loving me,
I promise I wouldn't let you down.
I love you auntie!
and we all miss you very dearly...
