Work: Day 1

To start out day, we had a powhiri, which is a Maori greeting with singing and quite strict protocols to follow and hongi as well; followed by morning tea and a group photo of us new recruits, which is suppose to be up in the net now...but maybe not yet...

The rest of the day was just sitting in the room either in front of a computer or a white board...something we all managed to survive despite dried eyes and close calls of taking a ride through la la land!

All in all, it was a start at work. There's all together 10 of us new recruits at the hospital. All fresh from uni. Work load shouldn't be too taxing as long as I complete my assignments ahead of time...

No study days during Jan!! So better chances of me heading East! =))

Haven't been able to post pix up, cause I'm not using my own personal computer/laptop and haven't been snapping away either. Will do soon!!

Big day tomorrow!
*Getting 2 jabs and will see ma new home! =)

I'm so disappointed that some friends have so lil faith in me behaving myself here..=(

I'm not as bad as I say I am la..please...

In Welly

Finally arrived Welly after procrestinating for an hour, from leaving the comforts of home...some how my anticipated feeling of moving to a new place isn't as such as I expected. Living in a new city. Working in a new city. Beginning a new chapter of life in a new city.

Despite my all so excited and calm exterior, I'm

Super Super White ANXIOUS!!!

I'm still a lil concerned about the well being of my car as I've yet to move into my new flat. So my car's out in the open!! Dropped some of my luggage there so I wouldn't be lugging it around in my car & met DJ, my future flatmate. Got a room for myself at a hostel.

During my drive up, the road was jam packed!! so many cars on the road, which meant even more crazy drivers...some how i feel like my car attracts lots of road bullies!! Grrrr.....

Carrot cake!

Was at the supermarket with Sue, buying carrots.

Sue: what're the carrots for?
Me: I'm going to make carrot cake.
Sue: There's carrots in carrot cake??
Me: Yeah....??

Made the carrot cake and it turned out FAB! Got the recipe from Gigi
Was a bit moist and wobbly after baking for the stated time period, so i left it in the oven for a while more.....if you do try it, let it cool and settle for at least an hour before eating cause there's a huge difference!!

Pool, Dinner, Party

I did 2 things I haven't done in ages

1. Wake up early, as in 8am, where by i only woke up 20 mins later.

2. Swim in a pool, as in doing laps instead of just soaking in the water. Mind you, I've never done more than 3 laps in in a pool, but I managed to do about 10?

I have Sun Square to thank!! Got back to her place, had a big lunch and knocked out on the couch for the next 3 hours.

Had dinner for the 1st time at Aberdeen, as a farewell celebration, with a surprise birthday for my dear big lil brother. Just a small get together with a few close friends. Not as a big crowd as last year as they've all slowly left Palmy....=(

*big lil bro putting out candles one by one

After dinner we went to a 21st party of another friend. Parties, parties, parties! good chance to touch base with everyone before I leave to Welly! Decided not to organise a farewell cause I'll just be 2 hours away and will still be able to see everyone when I head up to Palmy anyways...

4 more days

time's slowly slipping, managed to pack all my "used to be treasures" into my car to send to the recycling center, but only manage to go so far...now my room's slightly tidier but my car's jam packed!

managed to make more curry puffs! Sardine, chicken potato and banana choco fillings this time! not too bad...

heard from Dr E, I wont be able to take her room till Tues the soonest, if not Fri, next week. So will be needing to find a temp place to bunk at...so not the way I wanted things to turn out, but can't help it with all the last minute confirmations. This is a very good example of the dominoes effect:
- staff on leave
> delayed confirmation on available positions
> delayed job offer
> delayed confirmation of job acceptance
> delayed sending of contract
> delayed confirmation of flat room
> short notice for Dr E to make room available
> inconvenience to both Dr E and I

but nobody's to blame here. Life just happens the way it turns out and its a way of being flexible and coping with unexpected turns of events. Hence always the need for backup plans! I need a place to bunk for at least 2 nights! Panic mode!!

oh so exciting!!

Why do I close my room door?

cause someone
- would go through my trash
- would go through the items on my table
- would go rearrange my messy but organised room
- would tell me what to do
- would breath down the back of my neck while I'm on the laptop
- would open or close my curtains as they please

and finally making me very annoyed and ruin my day

...all that without my consent...

* I need a fierce guard door at my door! Grrr....

"She's nobody"

Was at the hospital today to get my bloods done and collect my uniform for work next week, when I met a mom and her daughter, who were apparently lost. The mom comes up to me hoping I would be able to direct them to the correct direction. Before she had the chance to ask, the daughter blurt out, "she's nobody, mom."

. . . . . .

The weather in the Capital & Coast district was wet, grey and breezy. As we were driving home, we saw a patch of red sky, and that was right above Palmy. As the saying goes,

" if Palmy's weather is sh!t, the area outside is most probably be sweet. If the weather in Palmy is sweet, the out areas must be sh!t."

*Will be done with day one of work this time next week!!

Puffs, crunch, & munch

Made curry puffs again today! This time Su and I made both tomato sardine and potato curry puffs! He did most of the work of kneading the dough, preparing the sardine, chopping onions, cooking the fillings, and rolling the pastry.

While I did pretty much most of the frying, standing and bossing around =P

We shared the folding and shaping evenly though.

And our result!! Getting better, but the potato curry puff filling could do better. The pastry turned out really thin n crispy...yummm.....

Lu made his awesome shrimp wasabi...man...even after steak & a huge baked with salads & pasta, I managed to find room for several of his shrimp for supper....

*home-made curry puffs!!

Off on another trip to Welly tomorrow to get some work related errands done! Got my accommodations sorted, but still waiting for a fixed date to move...hopefully it would be over the weekend. Oh so exciting.....

Happy 40th!

At a friend's 40th, and a family physio whom i met the 1st time said to me loudly in front of my uncle n auntie,
"I wouldn't go to bed for a massage by your uncle, but I would with you."

o.O

* hitting the dance floor with the '70s

on another note, I've got myself a very handsome home with awesome future flatmates!
just to confirm my moving in date, & moving in left =)

I'm back!

Back to bloggin! This motivation is contributed by the fact that I'll be starting my 1st job and living outside the nest, so I'm expecting there'll be lots of new experiences to share with all! Besides that, I've realised my English has gone to the drains, so this would be good for practicing putting my thought into words.

I've already started packing, as the ever excited Jace is always ahead of time when it comes to packing. A good time to spring clean n throw out half my room's contents. The amount of "treasures" I've accumulated over the years i've been here amazes me now that I have to pack them up.

So next up, would be to view possible flats with J&R then decide upon which will be my future home! But actually I've already made up my mind XD

Anyone in Palmy looking for box, try Toops in Milson, got mine there for free! Huge ones too!

Have a gr8 wkend ppl!!

*homemade strawberry chocolate fondue!
